What is Senior Safety Net?

Senior Safety Net is a secure nationwide network and registry, that enables law enforcement and social service agencies throughout the country to locate and positively identify individuals with iris biometric recognition technology.

Who maintains the Senior Safety Net registry?

The registry is maintained by the National Center for Missing Adults a nationally recognized non-profit organization based in Phoenix, Arizona. Social service agencies, law enforcement, and other authorized users will have access to data that can positively identify and individual in seconds.

Why is iris biometric technology so useful?

The iris is the most unique identifier on the human body, with over 240 Characteristics. Individual irises are unique from person to person and from left to right eye. Unlike other biometric identifiers, the iris remains stable after the age of 1.

Because the iris is so unique, it is the most accurate method to positively identify individuals. The technology is faster than most other methods, with a positive identification in seconds rather than hours, days, or even weeks.

Is the equipment easy to use?

Yes. The iris recognition biometric technology positively determines the identity of an individual by capturing and digitally encoding an image of the iris. The system features advanced user guidance technology along with the latest developments in iris recognition to deliver fast and accurate system enrollment and authentication. The system features:

  • Self-focusing
  • Self-illuminating
  • Adjustable for
  • ADA compliance
  • Multi-language
  • Durable
  • Portable
  • Point and Click Enrollment Screen

How does the technology work?

The Senior Safety Net program takes a simple high-speed digital photograph of the individual’s irises. There is no need to touch anything. The process is just a camera taking a photograph.

After the digital photo is taken, your iris data is stored and a 688 byte code is created and is compared to all codes in the database.

If a match is not found, your iris data is linked with your demographic information and stored at the national registry.

If a match is found, the previously stored demographic information will appear within seconds.
